The Dragons played a couple of solid ball games with only a couple mistakes to earn a split with the Clio Mustangs. This takes their overall record to 8-5 with a league record of 3-1. The ladies travel to Holly tomorrow for a couple more league games that were originally rained out.
In the opening game Creek fell behind 3-0 after 3 innings played. In the top of the 4th Hayley Cruthers was hit by a pitch and Adilita Roiter reached base on a fielder's choice. Michaela Krusina then hit a double to drive in a run and Allie Jo Brookman batted in the other run with a 2-out single to cut the score to 3-2. Clio scored again in the top of the 5th to take a 4-2 lead. Cruthers led off the 5th inning with a solo home run, her 3rd of the season to pull the Dragons within 1 again. Heading into the bottom of the 7th Cruthers singled and was advanced to 2nd base on an infield ground out. She then stole 3rd base, but was left stranded as the ladies dropped the opener 4-3.
Ashlyn Beck started the game pitching the first 3 innings giving up 3 runs. Meagan Photiou pitched 4 innings allowing only 1 run. Cruthers had 2 hits including the home run, scored 2 runs, with an RBI. Brookman had 2 hits and an RBI. Michaela Krusina had a double and RBI. Gabby Deering also singled.
In the nightcap Creek fell behind again 2-1 going into the 4th inning. A 4-run inning highlighted by Gabby Deering's first home run of the season, a 3-run shot to left center, proved to be the winning hit of the game. Beck started the game with Brookman coming to the mound early in the 3rd inning to finish the game and get the win.
Brookman was 3 for 3 with an RBI and run scored. Deering was 2 for 3 with a home run, double, 3 RBIs, and scored 2 runs. Cruthers, Photiou, Roiter, Hescott, Lauren Adas, and Andrea Aldridge also singled in the game.
