Kearsley Takes 2 from Varsity

The Dragons dropped a pair to the Kearsley Hornets Thursday night to fall to 5-3 in the Flint Metro League with an overall record of 10-7.  The opening game was a well played game that was tied several times at 2-2, 3-3, & 5-5. But, Kearsley took the lead in the 5th inning and never looked back winning by a score of 8-5.

Hayley Cruthers led the ladies with 3 hits including a double & triple and scored 2 runs. Gabby Deering had a hit, walk, and scored a run with an RBI.  Michaela Krusina had an RBI double, 2 walks, and scored a run.  Allie Jo Brookman had a hit and scored a run.  Meagan Photiou also had a hit.  Ashylyn Beck pitched the first 3 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs. Brookman came on to finish the game allowing 3 runs.

The Dragons only managed 3 hits in the nightcap losing in 5 innings by the mercy rule 10-0.  Deering had a double and Krusina and Lauren Adas added singles.  Beck, Photiou, and Brookman shared the pitching duties.  There were several outstanding defensive plays in both games, but too many hits by Kearsley to overcome.

The ladies next game is next Monday when they host Lapeer West.
