Varsity Splits with Powers

The games played tonight ranged from as bad as it gets to as good as it gets.  The opener is better to be left forgotten for the Dragons as they squandered a 5-2 lead with a complete fielding meltdown in the 6th inning that put them behind 10-5 after committing 8 errors. They ended up losing the game 10-7.

There were a few bright spots however like Allie Jo Brookman's solid start on the mound giving up 4 runs in 5 innings. And the hitting of Hayley Cruthers who went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs, 4 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.  Andrea Aldridge went 3 for 3 and scored twice with a sacrifice bunt also.  Gabby Deering had 2 hits and scored a couple runs with an RBI. Michaela Krusina was 3 for 4 with a double.

The nightcap was a far better played game defensively by both teams.  Creek jumped out to a 2-0 lead that lasted into the top of the 7th when Powers took the lead 3-2. Aldridge led off the bottom of the 7th with a slap single. Cruthers knocked her in with a double to tie the game. Meagan Photiou walked and Deering followed with an intentional walk to load the bases with no outs. Krusina hit the game winning walk off grand slam on the first pitch to end the game by a score of 7-3.

Krusina had 2 hits and 4 RBIs with 2 runs scored. Deering had 2 hits with 2 runs scored. Brookman had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Aldridge had a hit and scored. Cruthers had a double, RBI, an intentional walk, and scored.
