Varsity Wins Pair vs Lapeer East

The Dragons got their bats going tonight versus Lapeer East to sweep the visiting Metro League opponents and even their league record to 7-7 and 13-12 overall.  They used 11 hits in the opener to win 10-3 and 10 hits in the nightcap to win 16-1 in 3 innings.

Allie Jo Brookman, Ashlyn Beck, and Megan Photiou shared pitching duties allowing only 4 runs in 2 games.  The Big 3 hitters Hayley Cruthers, Gabby Deering, and Michaela Krusina combined again for the majority of the hits and run production in both games once again.  They scored 11 runs on 11 hits with 10 RBIs.

In the opener Cruthers had 3 hits including 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, scored 3 runs, walked, and stole 2 bases.  Deering had 3 hits with a line-drive home run, a double, RBI, and scored twice. Krusina had a 2 RBI home run with 2 walks and scored.  Andrea Aldridge added 2 hits and scored with a couple stolen bases. Brookman had a hit. Ashley Bush doubled, walked, and scored twice.

In the nightcap Cruthers had 2 hits, 3 RBIs, walked (again with the bases loaded), and scored twice with another stolen base. Deering had a 2-RBI single and scored. Krusina had a hit and scored twice.  Brookman had a hit, walk,  and scored twice. Photiou had a hit, walk, and scored twice. Bush and Beck had hits and scored. Lauren Adas scored twice on a couple walks.

But the Dragons have their work cut out for them tomorrow as they travel to Kearsley to play a 4-game tournament versus much tougher competition.  They'll need to keep the offense going in order to compete.
