Fox drove in 2 more runs (Deering & Krusina) with another single, stole third base, and scored on an error by the catcher to make the score 6-1, which would be the final score of the game.

Swartz Creek 8 Flushing 6
The second game was not close until the last inning as Flushing mounted a comeback. But, Creek held on to complete the sweep over their cross-town rivals. The game was scoreless until the 2nd inning when Krusina walked, Beck singled, Abby McGuire walked to load the bases. Adas singled scoring Krusina. Andrea Aldridge singled to score Beck and McGuire. Pletscher reached base on error to load the bases. Cruthers doubled scoring Adas and Aldridge. Pletscher scored on a wild pitch to make the score 6-0, which is where the scoring would end for the inning.
Flushing cut into the lead scoring twice with a couple hits and an error to make the score 6-2 through the top of the 4th inning. Pletscher walked. Hanna Sayles came into the game to pinch run for Pletscher. She stole second base and reached third on an error by the catcher. Cruthers hit her second double of the game to score Sayles, then advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Deering walked and stole second base. Cruthers scored on a ground-out by Krusina to make the score 8-2 at the end of 4 and would remain the score until the top of the 7th inning.
Flushing scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th on 3 hits, a sacrifice fly, and fielder's choice. But, the Dragons held on to get the win on a complete game by Brookman. Flushing had 12 hits in the game, but stranded a lot of runners. Many of the runners were left on the bases due to some fantastic defensive plays like the diving catch by Pletscher at third base, diving catch by Beck in right field, catch on the dugout fence by Deering, long running catch by second basemen Emily Rodriguez, a throw out from right field to third base by Emily Weekly and many baserunners caught stealing from Adas to Cruthers.
The girls only had 7 hits in the first game and 5 in the second....but they were timely hits with Flushing obviously making every effort to pitch around some of the more veteran and dangerous Dragon hitters content to walk them. It was a true team effort with everybody contributing to the wins versus the preseason ranked Flushing Raiders and a 4-0 start to the 2012 season.
The Lady's are scheduled to play in the Owosso Invitational tournament this Saturday beginning at 10:00am should the weather permit.
