Dragons Alone in First Place After Sweeping Lapeer East

The Dragons took care of business tonight out in Lapeer beating East twice to improve their league record to 12-2 and overall record to 26-4.  And with Fenton and Kearsley splitting their double header tonight, that puts the Dragons alone in first place with Fenton & Kearsley tied for second with 3 losses each.

Although the Dragons host a tournament Saturday, the BIG SHOWDOWN is now set for Monday night in Swartz Creek as Fenton will come to play the final league games of the season with the results determining the 2012 Flint Metro League Championship (4pm) Kearsley plays Lapeer West on Monday and depending on what the Dragons do, could affect the standings too.

The bottom line is that the Dragons control their own destiny.  Win both games and they'll be champions.  Split the games and they'll at least tie for first.  Lose both and finish in second place.

As for the write-ups for tonight's games.....I've got to summarize these, rather than do the play-by-play.  There were so many wild pitches, walks, and passed balls by East.....I just can't stomach writing about them.  Creek took what East gave them and got the wins (period).

Swartz Creek 9  Lapeer East 2

In the opener the Dragons used 7 hits and 8 walks along with a multitude of wild pitches to score 9 runs.  Leading the way for Creek was Carah Pletscher with 2 hits including a double, 4 RBIs, and a walk.  Andrea Aldridge had 2 hits, 2 walks, and scored 3 runs.  Hayley Cruthers had a hit, 2 walks, RBI, and scored 3 runs. Hailey Fox had a hit, RBI, and scored. Abby McGuire had a hit, 2 RBIs, and walk.

Pletscher pitched the game for Creek scattering 7 hits with 4 strikeouts, while allowing only 1 earned run.

Swartz Creek 18  Lapeer East 2

The nightcap wasn't much prettier for East.  The Dragons only had 6 hits, but used 12 walks and again too many wild pitches to count to put 18 runs on the board in 3 innings.  Lauren Adas had 2 hits including a double, 3 RBIs, a walk, and scored 3 runs. Emily Weekly had 2 hits, 3 RBIs, and scored 2 runs.  Carah Pletscher had a double, 2 RBIs, and scored 2 runs.  Hayley Cruthers had a hit, 2 RBIs, a walk, and scored.  Andrea Aldridge walked and scored 3 times.  Gabby Deering walked and scored twice as did Hailey Fox.

Pletscher pitched the first two innings for Creek allowing only 1 hit.  Ashlyn Beck pitched the last inning and gave up 2 hits.
