Dragons Win Both at Brandon

 

The Dragons got a couple of league wins tonight versus Brandon easily winning both games by the run rule.

Hayley Cruthers led off the first game with a double followed by a rocket line drive double by Carah Pletscher that nearly went over the center field fence hitting the top and bouncing back onto the field.  Cruthers scored on the hit.  Jamie Perigo came into courtesy run.  AJ Brookman singled scoring Perigo.  Ashley Dusseau reached base on an error with 2 outs, but they would be stranded as the Dragon took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the 1st.

 

Brandon led off with a slap single.  A sacrifice bunt moved the runner to 2nd.  A stolen base and triple put a run on the board for Brandon. The next batter was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners with 1 out.  The next batter laid down a sacrifice bunt fielded by 3rd baseman Dusseau who threw the batter out at 1st base to AJ Brrokman who quickly fired the ball home to Lauren Adas to tag the runner out trying to score from 3rd.  The double play ended the inning.

 

Tabby Miller got a 1-out walk in the 2nd inning and then stole 2nd base.  She then advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch, before being stranded with the score still 2-1. 

 

An error, sacrifice bunt, and bunt for a base hit scored another run for Brandon in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game 2-2. 

 

Fox ripped a 1-out double to get things going for Creek in the 3rd.  Lauren Black singled to score Fox.  And that would be it for the inning with the Dragons up 3-2.

 

Brandon was held scoreless in the bottom of the 3rd.  Adas led off with a double for Creek.  Hanna Sayles reached base on an error, but Adas was held at 2nd base.  Tabby Miller walked to load the bases.  Cruthers smashed a line drive double to clear the bases.  Pletscher singled to score Cruthers. Perigo came into courtesy run for Pletscher advancing to 2nd on a wild pitch.  Brookman singled moving Perigo to 3rd.  Fox racked another double scoring Perigo and moving Brookman to 3rd.  Black was walked to reload the bases.  Dusseau singled to score Brookman and Fox, while moving Black to 2nd.  Miller was hit by a pitch to reload the bases.  A walk to Cruthers scored Black and kept the bases loaded.  Pletscher reached base on an error that scored Dusseau and kept the bases loaded.  Perigo came into the game to courtesy run for Pletscher.  Brookman was hit by a pitch that scored Miller and kept the bases loaded.  But, that would be it for Creek taking a 13-2 lead into the bottom of the 4th.

 

Brandon would be kept off the scoreboard for the last inning.  Adas smacked another double with 2 outs, but would not score.  3 quick outs in the bottom of the 5th and the game ended by the run rule.

 

Pletscher pitched for Creek allowing just 1 earned run on 6 hits and a walk with 3 strikeouts and also had 2 hits including a double, 3 RBIs, a walk, and scored twice (Perigo).  Cruthers had 2 doubles, 4 RBIs, a walk, and scored twice.  Fox and Adas each had 2 doubles.  Brookman had 2 hits and RBIs and scored.  Black and Dusseau also had a hit each.

In the nightcap the Dragons would be the home team.  The game was scoreless through the bottom of the 4th.  Brookman had a 2 out single int the 1st, but would not score.

 

Pletscher led off the 4th with another double.  A Brookman ground out move Pletscher to 3rd with 1 out.  Fox reached base on an error that also scored Pletscher.  Black singled to move Fox to 3rd.  Perigo came into pinch run for Black.  Fox scored on a wild pitch that also moved Perigo to 2nd.  Adas was walked.  Dusseau reached base on a fielder's choice (double play attempt) that scored Perigo with Adas out at 2nd and Dusseau beating the throw to 1st.  That's where they would remain with the Dragons taking a 3-0 lead into the top of the 5th. 

 

Cruthers hit a 1-out single to start the rally in the bottom of the 5th.  Brookman hit a 2-out single that scored Cruthers all the way from 1st base.  Fox singled with Brookman scoring.  Black ripped another double to score Fox.  Adas reached base on an error with Black getting thrown out at the plate to end the inning with Creek up 6-0.

 

The bottom of the 6th would be final inning with Dusseau leading off with a walk.  An awesome bunt by Sayles counted for a single moving Dusseau to 2nd.  Another bunt single by Miller would load the bases.  Cruthers singled to score Dusseau and Sayles and moved Miller to 3rd.  Cruthers stole 2nd.  Pletscher was walked to reload the bases.  Brookman singled to score Miller and Cruthers, which ended the game by the run rule. 

 

Brookman pitched for the Dragons scattering 4 hits with no walks and only 1 strikeout, but no runs allowed. She also had 3 hits with 2 RBIs and scored.  Cruthers had 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and scored twice.  Fox had a hit, 2 RBIs, and scored twice.  Black had 2 hits including a double and an RBI.   Pletscher, Sayles, and Miller each had a hit.

 

The Ladies travel to Clarkston tomorrow for a non-conference double header.
