Varsity Back on Winning Track vs Lapeer East

The Dragons had a couple days off last week, prom on Saturday and a practice Sunday with team dinner.  They came out refreshed tonight taking both games at home versus Lapeer East.  The biggest difference was they got the offense going again.

Carah Pletscher took the mound for the Dragons.  East got on the scoreboard in the 1st with a double, single and an error.  Creek theatened with a 2-out walk to Tabby Miller who stole second base, but failed to score.


East was retired in order in the top of the 2nd.  The Dragons tied the game with a walk to Ashley Dusseau, single by Danielle Heron and a wild pitch that scored Dusseau.


In the top of the 3rd East led off with a walk, but she was picked off at first base by the catcher Lauren Pletscher.


Hailey Fox singled with one out in the bottom of the 3rd, followed by a bunt single by Miller and another single by Lauren Black to load the bases.  Fox scored on an outfield error on a ball hit by Carah Pletscher, which kept the bases loaded.  Miller scored on a walk to Dusseau and kept the bases loaded.  Jamie Perigo reached base on a fielder's choice that forced Black out at home.  Heron singled scoring Pletscher and Dusseau, but was thrown out at second base during the play to end the inning with the Dragons up 5-1.


East would not threaten to score for the remainder of the game.  In the bottom of the 6th Heron doubled to get things started.  A sacrifice bunt by Lauren Pletscher scored Heron with the help of an error that sent Pletscher to 2nd.  The inning would end with the Dragons up 6-1, which is where it would stay.


Pletscher scattered 5 hits with 4 strikeouts.  Heron had 3 hits including a double, 2 RBIs and scored a run.  Dusseau had 2 walks, an RBI, scored twice and a sacrifice bunt.  Fox had a hit and scored.  Miller had a hit and scored.  Black had a hit.

Phoebe Cross pitched the second game for the Dragons.  Creek would be the away team in the nightcap and they came out ready to play.  With 2 outs Miller walked, Black walked, Carah Pletscher walked.  Miller and Black scored on wild pitches.  Heron walked.  Perigo doubled scoring Pletscher and sending Heron to 3rd.  Dusseau walked on a wild pitch that scored Heron, but was thrown out attempting to reach second base. Creek was up 4-0.


But East came back with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st on 2 singles, a double and an error cutting the lead to 4-3.


The second inning was scoreless for both sides despite singles by Lauren Pletscher and Hanna Sayles.  Kara Manier came into courtesy run for Pletscher.  A flyout, sacrifice bunt by Miller and line drive out to the shortstop by Black ended the inning.


In the top of the 3rd Carah Pletscher bounced one of the left field fence for a lead off double.  Heron singled again putting runners on the corners.  Perigo put down a perfect bunt and reached base safely while scoring Pletscher.  Lauren Pletscher singled with Manier coming into courtesy run.  Sayles ripped a double off the right field fence scoring Heron and Manier.  The inning would end with Creek up 7-3.


East was kept off the scoreboard in the bottom of the 3rd.  In the top of the 4th the Dragons would score more with a one out single by Black, followed by a single by Carah Pletscher that sent Black to 3rd.  Heron singled to score Black.  Perigo had another bunt single to load the bases.  Dusseau again walked to score Pletscher and keep the bases loaded.  With 2 away Sayles singled scoring Perigo and Heron.  The inning ended with the Dragons up 11-3


East was held scoreless again in the bottom of the 4th as were the Dragons in the top of the 5th.  In the bottom of the 5th East scored 3 runs on 2 hits and 3 errors.  They may have scored more, but a line out to the center fielder Sayles who fired it to Carah Pletscher at second base resulted in an inning ending double play.  Creek was up 11-6.


The Dragons got those runs back in the top of the 6th.  Heron led off with another single. Manier followed with a single.  With one away Lauren Pletscher bunted and reached 1st on an error that scored Heron.  With 2 outs Fox singled to score Manier.  A walk to Gabby Oberlin loaded the bases.  A walk to Black scored Pletscher.  They may have scored more, but Carah Pletscher lined out to second base ending the inning with Creek up 14-6.


East failed to score in the bottom of the 6th, but the Dragons added 3 more runs.  Heron was hit by a pitch to lead off followed by a walk to Manier.  A sacrifice fly by Dusseau moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd.  A walk to Lauren Pletscher loaded the bases.  A walk to Sayles scored Heron.  With 2 outs Oberlin doubled scoring Pletscher and Sayles.  The inning ended with the Dragons up 17-6.


East managed a couple runs in the bottom of the 7th, but they were not enough.  The Dragons won 17-8.


Cross scattered 11 hits with 3 strikeouts.  Sayles had 3 hits including a double, walk, scored and had 5 RBIs.  Heron had 3 hits, an RBI and scored 5 times.  Perigo had 3 htis, scored twice with 2 RBIs.  Lauren Pletscher had 2 hits and scored twice.  Carah Pletscher had 2 hits including a double, walk and score 3 times.  Fox singled with an RBI.  Oberlin doubled with 2 RBIs.  Black had a hit, 2 walks and scored twice.  Manier had a hit and scored.
