Dragons Sweep Powers

The Dragons traveled to Flint Powers Wednesday night for a non-conference double-header.

In the top of the 1st inning Ella Sinclair led off with a single. Lauren Black doubled to score Sinclair. Black moved to 3rd on a ground out by Kylee Pierce.  Natalie Oldrham walked with 1 out to put runners on 1st and 3rd.  Danielle Heron reached base on an error that also scored Black.  Ashley Dusseau hit into a fielder's choice that forced out Oldrham at 3rd.  With 2 outs Madisen Henry hit a double to score Dusseau and Heron.  Kara Manier doubled to score Henry before the inning ended with the Dragons taking a 5-0 lead in the 1st.  Powers came back and scored with a double and single to cut the lead to 5-1.

 

Both teams were retired in order in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings.  Sinclair led off the 5th with another single.  She advanced to 2nd on a passed ball, then to 3rd on another and scored on a ground out by Pierce to make the score 6-1 before the inning ended.  Powers went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning.  Creek got a 1-out walk from pinch hitter McKenzie McDaniel in the 6th followed by a single from pinch hitter Lauren Pletscher.  With 2 outs Black walked to load the bases, but they would all be stranded with the score remaining 6-1.  The lead-off batter for Powers reached base on an error in the bottom of the 6th and the next batter walked.  A double scored the lead-off hitter and a singled scored another run.  The inning ended with the Dragons up 6-3. 

 

Oldrham led off with a walk in the 7th, but she would be left on base.  Powers managed a double in the bottom of the 7th, but that would be it for them as the Dragons kept them off the scoreboard and took game 1.

 

For the Dragons Ella Sinclair had 2 hits and scored twice.  Lauren Black had a hit, walk, RBI and scored.  Kylee Pierce had a hit and 2 RBIs.  Kara Manier had an RBI double.  McKenzie McDaniel walked.  Lauren Pletscher had a hit.  Natalie Oldrham had 2 walks.  Madisen Henry pitched scattering 5 hits, allowing 2 earned runs with 11 strike outs and 1 walk.  She also had a double, scored and 2 RBIs.

Sinclair led off the 2nd game with a single as well.  She reached 2nd on a sacrifice bunt by Black.  She would reach 3rd on a ground out, but would not score.  Powers managed a hit in the 1st, but also would not score.  Henry singled to start the 2nd inning.  Pletscher reached base on an error that also moved Herny to 2nd.  Allsion Dusseau doubled to score Henry.  The Dragons took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the 2nd.  Powers got a single, but could not score.

 

The Dragons got a 1-out single by Pierce in the 3rd.  She advanced to 2nd on a passed ball. Oldrham singled to score Pierce.  She advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch.  Henry singled putting runners on 1st and 2nd, but they would be stranded.  Powers put together a couple hits in the bottom of the 3rd, but they would be stranded.  

 

Ashley Dusseau singled to lead off the 4th.  Hailey Dupuis walked.  Allison Dusseau put down a great sacrifcie bunt to move the runners to 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.  Sinclair singled to score Ashley Dusseau.  Black doubled to score Dupuis and Sinclair.  Oldrham singled to score Black before the inning ended with Creek up 6-1.  Powers had a runner in the bottom of the 4th due to an error, but could not score.

Heron came into the game for Dupuis and ripped a double with 1 away in the 5th.  The Dragons could not push her across the plate.  Powers managed 3 hits without scoring in the 5th with the help of a pickle play between the catcher Pletscher and 3rd baseman Ashley Dusseau and short stop Sinclair.   Creek went down 1-2-3 in the 6th.  Powers got a runner on due to an error, but could not score.  Neither team managed any offense in the 7th as the Dragons came out on top 6-1.

 

For the Dragons Ella Sinclair had 2 hits, an RBI and scored.  Natalie Oldrham had 2 hits and scored.  Lauren Black had a double, sacrifice bunt, 2 RBIs and scored.  Kylee Pierce had a hit and scored.  Madisen Henry had 2 hits and scored.  Ashley Dusseau had a hit and scored.  Hailey Dupuis walked and scored.  Danielle Heron had a double.  Allison Dusseau doubled with an RBI and sacrifice bunt.  Phoebe Cross pitched allowing only 1 run on 8 hits, 2 strike outs and no walks.
