Dragons Play 3 Great Games at Home Tourney

The Dragons played their 4th and final tournament of the season at home Saturday.  They played 3 of the best games they've played all season, but came up short in 2 of them.

Swartz Creek 1  Portland 2

In the top of the 1st Portland got a lead off walk. A sac bunt moved her to 2nd, but that's where she would remain.  Ella Sinclair led off with a single for the Dragons.  Kylee Pierce got a 1 out single moving Sinclair to 2nd.  A wild pitch moved the runners up, but they would also be stranded.  Portland managed a double in the 2nd, but could not score.  Kara Manier reached base on error with 2 outs, but she would not get past 1st base as then inning ended with the game still scoreless.

Portland went down in order in the top of the 3rd, but so did the Dragons.  Portland was retired in order in the top of the 4th as well.  The Dragons got a 2 out single by Natalie Oldrham.  Danielle Heron lined out sharply to the pitcher to end the inning.  Portland went down 1-2-3 in the top of the 5th.  Manier walked to begin the bottom of the 5th with Phoebe Cross coming into pinch run.  Pinch hitter Lauren Pletscher put down a sac bun to move Cross to 2nd base.  After a couple of hard hit balls resulted in outs by the Dragons the game remained scoreless.

Portland put 2 runs on the board in the top of the 9th thanks to the first 2 errors of the game by the Dragons.  Down 2-0 in the bottom of the 9th, Ashley Dusseau began the inning at 2nd.  Oldrham lined out to the 1st baseman.  With 2 outs Kara Manier ripped a line drive up the middle to score Dusseau and get Creek on the board.  But that would be all the Dragons could do as the game ended losing 2-1.

Hailey Dupuis came into courtesy run.  A 2 out walk to Lauren Black loaded the bases.  The runners moved up on a wild pitch that scored Oldrham, before the inning ended with the Dragons up 2-0.
