Dragons Win 2 at Goodrich
The Dragons travelled to Goodrich Wednesday night for a non-conference double-header. They were beaten earlier in the season by the Martians at the Lake Orion tourney on April 16th by a score of 12-2. But, the Dragons have been working hard and improving all season long. They were a couple of hard fought victories, which the team celebrated afterwards.

There wasn't a lot of scoring in the first game, as Madisen Henry ptiched another great game for Creek. She allowed just 2 hits and 3 walks. She added another 13 strikeouts to her single-season school record, bringing the total to 211 on the year. The Dragons only managed 3 hits during the game.
Sydney Scott, Madisen Henry and Madison Majestic each had a hit. Majestic had the first RBI, scoring Natalie Oldrham and the Dragons first run in the 2nd inning, who reached base on a fielder's choice. In the 3rd inning Ella Sinclari walked and stole second base, before being moved to third base on a sacrifice fly by Kylee Pierce. Sinclair scored during the play on a errant throw that sailed into the dugout. That proved to be the winning run. Goodrich scored their only run in the 5th, but Henry's pitching and solid defense shut them down.

Kylee Pierce singled with 2 outs in the top of the 1st for Creek. Allison Dusseau followed with a walk, but both would be stranded. Goodrich jumped out front scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the inning on 3 hits, an error and home run. Madison Majestic singled in the top of the 2nd inning, but did not score. Goodrich used an error and double to extend their lead to 4-0 after two.
Jess Verran reached base on an error with 1 out in the top of the 3rd for the Dragons. Abigail Buckner came into courtesy run. Pierce ripped a double to score Buckner. With 2 outs Sydney Scott singled to score Pierce. That would be it, but the Dragons cut the lead to 4-2. Goodrich threatened to score in the bottom half loading the bases, but pitcher Jess Verran worked out of the jam keeping them from adding to their lead.
Majestic led off the 4th with a single. With 1 out Madison Snider walked. Both runners moved up to 2nd and 3rd on a passed ball. With 2 outs Pierce singled to score both runners and tie the game 4-4, before the inning ended. Goodrich came right back scoring twice to regain the lead 6-4.
Both teams were set down in order in the 5th inning.
The Dragons offense exploded in the 6th inning. Olivia Hughes got things started with a single. With 1 out, Sinclair singled. Verran followed her with a single to load the bases. Buckner came into courtesy run. And then once again, the team's leading hitter Kylee Pierce came through big time with a base clearing triple. Dusseau reached base on an infield single that kept Pierce at 3rd. She stole second on the first pitch. Sydney Scott singled to score both runners, but was throw out trying to reach second base. Natalie Oldrham and Majestic hit back to back singles putting runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. They would be stranded, but the Dragons regained the lead 9-6.
Goodrich got 2 of the runs back in the bottom of the 6th on a single and home run, cutting the Dragons lead to 9-8. In the top of the 7th Snider led off with a single up the middle. With 1 out Verran singled again. Buckner came into courtesy run. And one more time Kylee Pierce doubled to score Snider and move Buckner to 3rd. Dusseau walked to load the bases, but they would all be stranded as the Dragons took a 10-8 lead into the bottom of the 7th.
Goodrich managed to get runners on 2nd and 3rd with a hit and hit-batter, with only 1 out. But, the Martians were down to their last out after Verran got a huge strikeout. The next batter hit the ball up the middle, but Verran fielded it cleanly and threw her out at first for the final out and another victory for Creek.
The win was the first official win for the freshman pitcher Jess Verran. She scattered 7 hits and allowed 4 walks with 3 strikeouts. She added 2 hits and 2 RBIs, while her courtesy runner Buckner scored twice. The big bat of the day belonged to Kylee Pierce. She had 4 hits including 2 doubles, a triple, 5 RBIs and scored twice. Madi Majestic had 3 hits and scored. Sydney Scott had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Ella Sinclair had a hit and scored. Allison Dusseau had a hit, walked twice and scored. Natalie Oldrham and Olivia Hughes each had a hit. Madison Snider had a hit, walk and scored twice.
Next up for the Dragons, they host their final tournament of the season this Saturday. It will also be Senior Day. Game times are 10am, Noon and 2pm.
